10 kilometers east of  the historic Booroorban Royal Mail Hotel built by Samuel Porter in 1868, grandfather of your host Will Butcher, sits “Elmsleigh.”

The Booroorban State Forest runs along one side of Elmsleigh, a 6,000 acre working farm that pays particular attention to the health of the indigenous flora and fauna.

Elmsleigh is just off the Old Man Plains on the Long Paddock Cobb Highway Touring Route, and offer 60’s style accommodation in the Shearer’s Quarters built in 1956.

And if you join us during shearing, you can have the shearers regale you of their stories!

The kitchen has two electric stoves, a wood fired oven, refrigerator, ample bench space and a table & chairs.

Alfresco dining is also available on the verandah or lake-side, both of which have barbecue facilities. All cooking appliances, pots & pans, cutlery & crockery are supplied.

So don’t forget to plan a few barbecues by the lake, breakfast on the verandah or a quick snack indoors before you head out onto the plains.
